President Uhuru Kenyatta has challenged Opposition chief and NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga to retire from active politics.
Speaking at Bumala Market in Busia County on Wednesday, the Head of State noted that he had an elaborate retirement plan for the former Prime Minister, that included a detailed security.
“Given the respect I have for Raila Odinga, I have already rolled out a retirement plan for him. I have set aside bodyguards who will protect him at his home in Bondo, a pension scheme for him… all that, we have worked out. Because Raila is my elder brother, I want him to live a dignified life. About power-sharing in government, he should forget,” he stated.
Mr Odinga is set to give the presidency a fourth stab, after losing the previous two controversially to retired former president Mwai Kibaki in 2007 and President Kenyatta in 2013.
President Kenyatta is facing stiff competition from a more united and re-energized Opposition, even as he angles to recapture his seat during the forthcoming polls.
