Nakuru governor Kinuthia has protested, dismissing Jubilee primaries results that saw him lose to Kinuthia Mbugua.
Mbugua lost the ticket to defend his seat, to the former chairman of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and a former assistant minister in the grand coalition government, after 150,137 votes, against Lee's 216,385 votes.
Former NACADA chairman, also former Naivasha lawmaker, John Mututho, came in third with 30,487 votes.
Below is Kinuthia's statement over the matter:
''I have unequivocally rejected the gubernatorial nominations results released yesterday as they do not reflect the will of the people of Nakuru.
I cast my vote at Tayari Primary School Polling Station in Molo on Wednesday, and gave my assurance to the people of Nakuru that I would accept the results as long as the process was fair and credible. In regards to the total number of all the votes that were cast for the senatorial seat, they don’t match all the votes that were cast for the gubernatorial position.
In polling stations such as Jamhuri Primary School in Kabazi Ward which has a total of 233 registered voters as per the IEBC register that was used, 521 voters voted. The situation is similar in Banita Primary School and Lakeview Primary School in Naivasha.
There were polling stations where 100% of voters turnout was realized which is unrealistic and leaves a lot of questions to be answered.
The pattern of these anomalies indicate that the process was interfered with and therefore totally unacceptable. With these in mind I have already initiated the process of petitioning the primaries results within the stipulated time.
My team is in the process of analyzing/auditing results from each of the polling stations and so far numerous variances and discrepancies have been established and once complete a comprehensive report will be tabled and a way forward to be informed.
Finally, I would like to commend the people of Nakuru for their enthusiastic and impressive turn out in the just concluded Jubilee Party primaries and assure you of my heartfelt appreciation and recognition of your undivided loyalty.''
