Speaking outside the Machakos High Court after Governor Alfred Mutua’s win was annulled, Ndeti said she had been patient until she was served with justice.

Ndeti said she is ready to battle it out on the ballot with Mutua for the third time.

“It is during difficult times that you know who your friends are,” Ndeti said.

On his part, Mutua said he accepts the Appellant Court's verdict but does not agree with the outcome.

He said the court misunderstood the findings it was presented with during the case against him.

Mutua said he will continue to deliver the promises he made to the residents before he was dealt with the 'big blow'.

“We are surprised by their finding. It is very clear they misunderstood what was presented to them. We are going to appeal to the Supreme Court. We are still in office. I will continue discharging my duties,” Mutua added.

The nullification of the win comes barely a month after Mutua asked all senior government officials to undergo lifestyle audit in a bid to fight corruption.
