Former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has refuted President Uhuru Kenyatta's claims that he looted public resources to bankroll campaigns in the Opposition.
Kidero also hit out at new governor Mike Sonko, saying he was merely inflating his revenue collection figures and that they are yet to hit the Sh38 million daily figure.
The former governor said that contrary to what has been alleged about him funding the Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka campaign, the two have the capability to fund their own campaigns and were doing so even before introduction of the county governments.
“Raila Odinga vied for the presidency in 1998, 2003, 2008, and 2013 with Kalonzo Musyoka and there were no devolved units then, yet they funded their campaigns,” said Kidero.
“I have never given money to Kalonzo or Moses Wetang'ula. I am asking the President to stop making frivolous statements. He is the symbol of unity,” stated Kidero.
He was speaking at the Gethsemane Ministries church on Sunday.
