Newly elected Garissa County governor Ali Korane has ruled out the existence of any bad blood between him and outgoing governor Nathif Jama.

Speaking ahead of his swearing in ceremony on Monday at the county, the incoming governor reached out to Jama saying their unity is key for tranquility in the volatile county.

“Personally I have nothing against the outgoing governor. All I want to ask from him is to come so we can join hands together for the betterment of our people and our county,” he said.

Korane however said he would not delve into the criminal proceedings that could be instituted against the outgoing governor after his supporters set ablaze several stalls in Garissa town to protest the outcome of the August 8 elections gubernatorial polls.

“On the torching of stalls by the governor's supporters the law must definitely take it's course because that now is a criminal offence,” he said.

Jama, who ran on a Wiper Party ticket lost to Korane, who is in Jubilee in the recently concluded elections.

The two have had their fair share of disagreements, with Korane accusing Jama of misusing public funds during his tenure.
