Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala has refuted claims that he is among those planning to impeach County Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua.
Addressing journalists in Machakos early Wednesday morning, Kiala said that though their relationship with the Governor has not been cozy, their differences are not personal.
"I have heard those rumours that there is a plan to impeach the Governor but as his Deputy, I am not in a position to substantiate that,” said Kiala.
"Ours with Dr. Mutua are working differences and there is nothing personal at all,” added Kiala.
Kiala said that he has no problem working with Governor Mutua, but asserted that their working relationship must be guided by the interests of the Machakos people.
"Politics must not be played at all times as we have much to do for Machakos people who elected us and we cannot do that while fighting,” he added.
Mutua has been under great pressure to resign over alleged misappropriation of County funds, and a recent doctors' strike where four infants died at the Machakos District Hospital.
