Former Kitutu Masaba MP and Nyamira gubernatorial hopeful Mwancha Okioma has dismissed claims that he could dump the opposition for the ruling Jubilee Party ahead of the August polls.

In a telephone interview with this writer on Wednesday, the former legislator maintained that he is firmly in Ford Kenya, observing that he has no plans to ditch the party.

"There have been reports on social media indicating that I am intending to join Jubilee Party. The reports are completely untrue. I am firmly in NASA, and will be vying on a Ford Kenya ticket for the Nyamira governorship seat," he said.

He further dismissed allegations that he could deputise the incumbent Governor John Nyagarama, adding that he will be going for nothing short of the gubernatorial position.

Okioma vied unsuccessfully for the same seat during the 2013 general election on the Ford People ticket, losing out to Nyagarama who garnered 33,634 votes.
