This comes after speculation that Obure plans to decamp ODM to Ford People or Kanu before the general election.

Speaking to the reporter on Saturday in Kisii, Obure said that he has not decamped from ODM to any political party or any coalition but he is firm as ODM chairman in Kisii County.

"I have no decamped ODM and I am still the chairman of the party in Kisii county," he said.

He also defended himself for skipping Raila’s visit to Nyamira county during the homecoming of Kitutu Masaba Member of parliament Timothy Bosire who was detained over hate speech.

"I did not attend any function at Nyamira which was attended by ODM members because I had some personal commitments somewhere," he said.

He further said it was not wrong for the community to have their own political outfit like in other regions.

In the recent past, Obure has been spotted holding meetings with some of the politicians from Kisii county in aid of uniting the community.

“When you meet with leaders from other parties it does mean that you have decamped, But if we found it interesting to have one party as a community nothing can hinder us from doing so," said Obure.

Obure who has not yet declared the position he is eyeing in the coming election but according to some reliable sources, he will vie for the gubernatorial seat.

If Obure goes for the seat which is currently headed by the Governor James Ongwae who is also the secretary of ODM party then it means a serious shake up is in waiting for the orange party.
