Momanyi who allegedly decamped to Jubilee at a function in Molo over the weekend, was subjected to online criticism with a number of critics accusing him of getting ‘handouts’ from the Jubilee government.

But during an exclusive interview on Wednesday, Momanyi insisted that party politics was an individual decision and urged his constituents to judge him based on his development record rather than party affiliation.

“I sometimes fail to understand why people become so petty and myopic. In my view, I have a political freedom to be in whichever party of my choice and that remains so,” said the Wiper MP.

“Leaders should be judged based on their developmental record rather than party affiliations. My party of choice remains an individual decision and when that time comes, I will make it public. Otherwise it’s important to ignore rumours,” added Momanyi.

While Momanyi did not mention his preferred party in 2017, he urged locals to support parties that had the interest of the community at heart.

“We can’t be flower girls all the time. Time has come for us to make a critical decision. We should support parties that have our interest as the Omogusii community,” he said.
