The Governor of Machakos county Dr Alfred Mutua stated that the next financial year will include allocation of half of all tenders to the youth.
Speaking during the First youth Convention in Machakos People's Park, Mutua said the move was aimed at youth financial empowerment.
"The youth in this county forms the highest population and allocating the 30% according is too little, therefore from next financial year my government will set aside 50% of all tenders and contracts to the youth," said Mutua Dr Mutua who hosted the Ukambani youth Convention on Friday and is the Founder of Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement.
Mutua, however, defined the problems the youth are facing as the same people in 1950s faced due to lack of good leadership and corruption in our country.
"It's sad to see the young people go through whatever grandparents went through but I have the prescription which is fighting to eliminate corruption and choosing good leaders," he added.
Mutua has said that his leadership will see to it that the youth is empowered both economically and politically.
The Youth Convention brought together thousands of youths from Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Taita Taveta among other counties.
