Kiangoi has been under criticism in the recent months from ODM officials and leaders in the region who have accused him of ditching Cord for Jubilee.

Speaking during a function in West Mugirango, area MP James Gesami asked Kiangoi to resign and join Jubilee.

However, the former North Mugirango MP strongly opposed the allegations saying it is a move aimed at denying him the ODM ticket in favour of Erick O'kongo Omogeni for the Nyamira County senatorial seat.

Speaking to this reporter on Thursday,  the former MP accused his counterparts of playing cheap politics to ensure he does not clinch the ODM ticket for the seat .

“I know they are playing politics to ensure that I don't get the ODM ticket for the senatorial seat, and I have been told that they are favouring Erick Okongo for the ticket that is why they are openly tainting my name that I have decamped from ODM,” he said.

“Am in the EALA and now I can’t serve two masters at the same time. I can’t come to Gusii land for Cord functions and yet am in Arusha for duty, they have to understand that, ”Kiangoi added.

"We started ODM in 2005 when the likes of Gesami and Okongo have not yet known what was it so am a life member of ODM. Let party members decide who will be the senatorial flag-bearer in Nyamira. This is politics played by mean people but I will defeat them come the nominations,“ he said.

“I still say that am an ODM life member and have not decamped to any coalition so let by the others known that we are there and the people of Nyamira will decide who will be their flag bearer,“ Kiangoi added.
