Nyamira County Assembly Speaker Joash Nyamoko says he is still in the race for the North Mugirango parliamentary seat.

Nyamoko at the same time lashed out at his opponents over claims he has shelved his ambitions for the post in favour of the county deputy governorship for the upcoming general election in 2017.

Speaking Tuesday to this writer, Nyamoko said several governor hopefuls have approached him to be their running mate but has turned down the offer insisting that his eyes are cast on the North Mugirango seat.

“I have not quit and won’t quit the race because I know what the people of North Mugirango are undergoing and they have asked me to serve them from that capacity,” Nyamoko said.

“Those rumours doing rounds are propaganda which cannot work against me and against the people of North Mugirango,” the speaker added.

He asked the North Mugirango residents to remain focused and shun the rumours.

“Whoever is escalating the same its is a clear indication that he has lost and he should quit the contest as early as possible and leave room for real leaders to lead the people of North Mugirango,” Nyamoko concluded.
