Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has dismissed claims that he had thrown his support behind an aspiring Nyamira gubernatorial candidate as ‘imaginations’ and urged politicians to ‘be their own’ on the campaign trails.

This comes after a message went viral in social media claiming that Bosire had publically endorsed his predecessor Walter Nyambati for the gubernatorial seat during a function at Nyambaria High School on Sunday.

Bosire expressed his disappointment with the message and challenged youths to use online media platforms objectively.

“I am really shocked that some people can go online and publish imaginations. I am one man who believes in working independently and in democracy as well,” Bosire said.

“It will be important if our youths use the online content objectively. I don’t remember supporting any candidate for the gubernatorial seat because I am not a contestant after all,” he added.

He said Nyamira people had a right to choose candidates of their choice in general elections and warned candidates against banking on support from other leaders.

“The good thing about this politics is that people know us well. It’s the Nyamira people to decide who will be their next Governor," said Bosire.

"I am just a voter like any of them and people will make their independent decisions on the ballot paper,” he added.

“We live in a democratic nation and as a politician; I cannot impose a candidate on my people," said the Legislator.

"I am only focused on retaining my parliamentary seat and for other contested seats, Nyamira people know what’s best for them,” he said.

The Nyamira gubernatorial seat has attracted stiff competition with former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati and businessman Charles Mochama keen to topple incumbent John Nyagarama.
