Former investigative journalist Mohammed Ali (Moha) of the famous Jicho Pevu pieces on KTN television has said his only objective of joining politics is to change Kenya for the better.
Moha who was recently trounced during the ODM nominations for the Nyali parliamentary seat said Kenya needs leaders bold enough to confront problems facing East Africa’s largest economy.
“I came into politics to change my country,” he said on Friday when he spoke to the Standard’s Pulse.
“I'm a man of my own principles. I am not a yes man,” he added.
He said the nomination process was marred with irregularities and called for a repeat of the exercise.
Moha was defeated by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s brother Said Abdallah during the ODM party primaries.
He claimed Governor Joho and ODM Mombasa County officials played an instrumental role in rigging him out of the polls.
Moha said most polling stations in his strongholds did not receive ballot boxes denying his supporters opportunity to vote.
Moha has built a name as an authority when it comes to investigating terrorism, drug cartels, extra-judicial killings and other conspiracies that have seen Kenyans killed in unexplained circumstances.
He has been a wanted man having had to change houses regularly to stay ahead of the people his investigative pieces have pierced.
At one point he spoke about the people he claimed were out to eliminate him.
“These people are out to finish me,” he said.
“I am receiving a massive beating on Twitter from fake accounts opened by the government. Most are accounts with Muslim names, to make it seem Muslims are against me. I know all their tricks, because they tag senior policemen on their tweets and no one responds in my defence.”
