Ukur Yattani, former Marsabit County Governor has said his administration made the county more cohesive than he found it in 2013.
According to Yattani, the county's cohesion index rose from 68 per cent in 2013 to 86 per cent in 2015.
He said his administration spent Sh30 million as a social protection fund, Sh60 million as an enterprise fund and Sh45 million on scholarships to benefit all communities such as Rendille, Gabbra, Borana, Samburu and Turkana living in the county thus cementing unity among the communities.
“We have rehabilitated over 5,000km of roads and constructed 1,000km of new ones,” he said.
Yattani pointed out other achievements such as building a modern abattoir, tarmacking 6km of road in Marsabit town, street lighting, a Sh1.6 billion water supply project and establishing 44 new boreholes.
Yattani lost to Mohammed Ali in the August 8 polls by garnering 47,929 votes against Ali's 56,146.
Ali promised to fight corruption and serve the people equally.
He urged residents to maintain peace always as they did during the elections.
