Speaking on Friday in Murang'a shortly after unveiling an office for the Party of National Unity, Munya said he is best suited to be President at that time.

"My position has always been clear. I will not join anyone supporting Ruto (Deputy President). There is no way I can run against him and support him at the same time," Munya said.

He, however, noted that he will be supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid in the next general elections.

The governor who decamped to PNU said that the party has made significant progress, including expanding its support base across the country.
