A week after being humiliated in the Jubilee Party (JP) nominations, governor William Kabogo now says that he did not imagine being beaten by his rival Ferdinand Waititu.

Speaking to journalists at Thika Level Five hospital on Wednesday, Kabogo said that his defeat came as a surprise.

Kabogo while maintaining that the nomination was not free and fair, said that he was sure of clinching the ticket basing on his development track record in Kiambu.

“My development track record was my guarantee for re-election, nothing else,” he said

He refuted claims in some sections of the media that he had paid locals to vote for him in the nominations. “It is unfair for people to ‘cook’ up stories claiming that I was paying supporters Sh3000 each to vote for me in the nominations, that is not true, the fact is that I did not give a single cent to anyone,” he said.

Kabogo revealed that he will be making a major political announcement on his political future on Thursday next week.

The Governor at the same time dismissed claims that he is part of the party nomination losers who are re-grouping to form an alliance.

“I am not part of any group or team re-grouping in Mt Kenya or elsewhere,” he said on Wednesday.

He was floored by Waititu in the Kiambu governor nominations last week. He conceded early defeat claiming that the nomination exercise was not free and fair.

Kabogo accused some unnamed forces within Jubilee Party who he said did not want him to be governor.

Waititu garnered 353,604 votes against Kabogo’s 69,916.

The governor was among top politicians who were floored in the Jubilee nominations.
