Baringo governor Benjamin Cheboi was edged out of the Jubilee party gubernatorial race by his main competitor Stephen Kiptis in Monday primaries.
Kiptis clinched the party ticket after garnering 64,589 votes against Cheboi’s 21,388 votes despite low voter turnout experienced in the region.
In a statement to newsrooms, Cheboi honourably conceded defeat and accepted to respect the will of the people.
“I am satisfied that the exercise was fair. I would like to thank returning officers in Baringo for conducting a peaceful process,” said the governor.
The governor wished his competitor, Kiptis, best of luck in the August 8 polls.
