Kitutu South Member of Parliament Richard Onyonka has said he recognizes President Uhuru Kenyatta’s presidency.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, the MP said they have an issue on how last year’s elections were carried out, but respect the current government since it is recognised by the constitution.
They further used the forum to thank President Kenyatta for retaining Education CS Fred Matiang’I in his cabinet.
“First, the president of the country is Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta. If you look at it legally, he has the instruments of power. He was sworn in, he is the chief commander, he is in the church of resources, he is the president,” he said.
He added: “As a member of Ford Kenya, which is in NASA, I have an issue on how the elections were conducted, but I’m not against his presidency. He was sworn in and he is current president,”
He also waded into the talk to swear in Raila Odinga, a ceremony planned for January 31 at the Uhuru Park grounds.
“I have no issue with anyone swearing in Raila Odinga as the peoples’ president, but personally I know the president of the Republic of Kenya is Uhuru Kenyatta,”
