Narangwi, who was transferred to police headquarters, said his main purpose was to ensure Nyanza residents live in a crime-free area.

He said he employed numerous tactics to be able to tame insecurity in the region with his major focus being in Kisumu, Migori, Kisii and Nyamira counties.

“I have made a mark in Nyanza as insecurity issues have been reduced and I want to ask my predecessor to continue from where I left,” he said.

He noted that he worked well with his junior officers, who he said were equally up to the task in ensuring peace and order was maintained.

Speaking during the handover ceremony in Kisumu, Narangwi said he will continue serving Kenyans in any capacity in the country.

The incoming regional coordinator, Willy Lugusa, said he is up to the task and will not fail in his duty.

Lugusa, who has served in different capacities in Kisumu, said he is not new to the region and will handle challenges of the new job.

“This is my home and I call for cooperation to work in harmony with everyone to ensure security is improved at workplaces and at home,” he said.

He urged members of the public to work closely with his office to be able to wipe out remnants of criminals in the region.
