Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has said that he rejected Deputy President William Ruto's offer to join Jubilee after being approached together with Ikolomani MP Bernard Shinali and his Navakholo counterpart Emmanuel Wangwe.
According to Oparanya who is also the ODM Deputy Party leader, he could not leave the Orange party where he is a leader and join a congested Jubilee party.
"The DP asked me to join him in Jubilee. But I told him that if I joined him, the only position I can demand is his own and nothing less than that. And he said no," Oparanya was quoted by the Star.
"I told him I cannot leave ODM where I am deputy party leader to join a congested Jubilee with a plan to rule until 2022. I am ready to wait until 2032," he added.
Speaking when he distributed cheques for the construction of an ECD centre in Navakholo Constituency on Tuesday, Oparanya said that the DP was desperate for the Western Kenya support but added that he (Oparanya) could not be bought 'like a goat in the market'.
Oparanya said that he is ready to support Raila's presidential bid for the last time in 2017.
"I have told him he has one bullet left and must aim properly, and if he misses, he should support me in 2022," he said.
