Speaking outside his Machakos town offices on Tuesday as he addressed the press, Kiala said that he has great respect for Governor Mutua as an elected leader of the county.

“There are politicians who have been saying I had incited the youths to remove the governor from office, which is baseless allegations. I respect Dr. Mutua because he was elected by the people of Machakos despite our different opinions,” said Kiala.

This followed a call by President Uhuru Kenyatta that all leaders holding top positions and are mentioned in the EACC corruption report to step aside to allow investigations.

Kiala however reiterated the president’s call and insisted that all leaders; and mostly from Machakos County, who are mentioned in the corruption report to step aside.

Mutua has however stood his ground, stating his innocence over the allegations.

Mutua in a past event refuted the claims, stating he is being vilified for saving the county funds.

“If corruption is saving money and redirecting all to development in a bid to rise the residents’ state of living then we are heading to the wrong direction,” said Mutua.
