Opposition leader Raila Odinga has urged Meru community to support his presidential bid insisting that he is best suited to improve the region's economy.
His tour to President Uhuru Kenyatta's bedrock comes barely a week after Kenyatta visited the region for voter registration campaign.
He seized the opportunity to question Jubilee's commitment towards defending the plights of Miraa farmers.
"Meru people have been so hospitable to me despite the traditional opposition. I know we can win as a team in August is you remain committed," said Odinga.
He added: "They (Jubilee) have failed to address the plight of Miraa farmers. I even wrote to Britain when their were sanctions on the trade."
In 2013, Odinga managed to scoop at least 30,000 voters despite the region leaning to Jubilee government.
The Orange Democratic movement (ODM) also managed to capture two parliamentary seats from the vast Meru region.
