Opposition leader Raila Odinga has hit out at politicians calling for his retirement from active politics.
There have been calls from leaders allied to the Jubilee Party for Mr Odinga to bow out from politics and retire due to his 'old age'.
But speaking at Orange House in Nairobi on Tuesday, Raila dismissed those calling for his retirement adding that Kenyans have not asked him to retire.
"They are saying that I am old for politics. I want to tell them that I am politically young. I still have time to serve Kenya," he was quoted by KBC TV online.
Raila added those calling for his retirement were afraid of him as next year's general election nears.
"They are in government and their work is to serve Kenyans. They are afraid of me because they know they have not fulfilled what they promised to Kenyans," he added.
Leaders drawn from Jubilee Party including President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto have constantly been pressuring Raila to retire from politics citing his age.
Odinga will turn 72 in 2017.
