Speaking today at Tom Mboya Labour College, Kisumu on the sidelines of a 3 days Devolution Conference, Raila said that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) must be left to do its work.

“I had challenged the President that he was not serious in fighting corruption before I left the country, but I do support what he is doing. But I think the institution charged with fighting corruption ought to be left to do its work,” said Raila.

The opposition leader added that EACC should not have given the list to the President but to the Director of Public Prosecutions to charge the suspects in court if they had sufficient evidence.

He has also said that Governors who will be charged in court with corruption should step aside.

“A mere naming of someone that they have been involved in corruption is not enough to tell them to step aside, it should be after they are charged in court, after investigations are over,” he said.

The president officially opened the conference.
