Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua on Tuesday said Deputy President William Ruto should endorse his 2022 presidential bid.
According to the governor, Ruto represents politicians and leaders of the past transition and that is not the kind of leadership Kenyan's need.
Speaking during an interview on Kameme TV, the former government spokesman acknowledged the fact that Ruto has done much in this country particularly in uniting Kenya as a nation, something he says he respects the deputy president for.
However, he said the state in which Kenya is at the moment needs a leader who can bring fresh ideas, a leader who is in a position to do things differently from the way they have been done all along.
"I want Ruto to support me. He has done a lot and I respect him. But If you take a look at the type of leadership we want in Kenya, it is leadership that is not of that transition," Mutua said.
"But for us to fly, it is good to have somebody who will bring new changes in the way things are done in this country. We need to come from that foundation and fly. Therefore, I see myself as a better person to be able to change our country," he added.
Mutua who is serving his last term in office had already announced his ambition immediately court upheld his August 8,2017 election.
He snabbed the Kamba Leadership Unity meeting which was meant to endorse Kalonzo Musyoka as the Kamba's presidential candidate in 2022 polls.
