National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has urged politicians and leaders to accept and accommodate divergent views and opinions on critical matters facing the country in order to get solutions on key issues.
Speaking yesterday when he paid Governor Kinuthia Mbugua a courtesy call at Nakuru county offices, the Speaker said that leaders must learn to listen to the views of others.
Muturi noted that as leaders they have a responsibility of shaping the society through divergent opinions and thoughts on matters development.
“I ask fellow politicians and leaders to embrace divergent views, we cannot address challenges facing us if we cannot accommodate what others think,” he said.
The Speaker on the same note said that he was misunderstood on his comment on the one-third gender rule.
He said that his suggestions of having Women Representatives scrapped out were blown out of proportion.
“I did not say that the seats should be scrapped, I think the media reporting was wrong,” said Muturi.
The Speaker at the same time urged Members of Parliament to work closely with Members of County Assemblies (MCA) to ensure that appropriate laws are passed at both the national and the county levels.
Muturi said that legislation is a critical factor that is needed for development to be realized.
