A leading Nyamira gubernatorial aspirant has denied receiving Sh18 milliion from Jubilee government to decamp from Orange Democratic Movement to rival Jubilee.
Charles Mochama was subjected to online onslaught with a section of county residents accusing her of receiving the cash as a bribe to ditch his former party.
Speaking to the reporter on Thursday, Mochama termed the allegations ‘strange’ and accused his opponents of allegedly sensing defeat.
“Kenya is a democratic country and we work with political parties of our choice and that is the democracy we always talk about,” he said.
“It’s strange that when I move to another party people say I have received a bribe. I know my opponents have sensed defeat but nothing will deter me from clinching the seat in 2017 elections. I have never received such a huge amount of money and I would be happy if I get it,” he added.
He said his move from the Orange party was occasioned by entrance of County party chairman James Gesami’s to the gubernatorial race.
“I only moved out of ODM because I know how tickets are issued. It would be difficult to compete with someone from establishments like Gesami. I want never paid any coin to join Jubilee,” he said.
