Kenya Airways new chief executive, Sebastian Mikosz, has announced his plan to for the airline in the wake of its current downfall.

Mikosz warned that he would have to make tough and painful decisions in order to revive the ailing airline.

Mikosz, who was the former CEO of LOT Polish Airlines, replaced Mbuvi Ngunze and will bring much needed experience to the airline which is currently suffering a Sh150 billion debt.

During a media appearance, Mikosz said he was not hired to please everyone but he would do all he could to deliver the five year plan approved by the board.

“We will make some tough decisions. There is a response I get around here that this is the way we do it in Africa. There is nothing like the African way of doing things. There is only a good way of doing things or bad way of doing things,” said Mikosz as quoted by The Standard.

He also commented on the culture of mistrust at the airline. “People do not trust one another. We have to change this. Allow people to do their jobs but build accountability around them. I will not pull back. That is why I was hired,” said Mikosz.
