Nkaissery who spoke during the burial of former veteran politician John Keen in Namanga, Kajiado County said he wouldn't have entertained the protests which, had been called by the opposition to challenge the passage of the controversial laws.

Jubilee MPs, last week, amid heavy deployment of police around Parliament passed the contested laws in the absence of their Cord counterparts who boycotted the special House session to debate the amendment to the Elections Act, 2011.

"I was prepared for you on January 4," Nkaissery said at the ceremony also attended by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Governors, Senators and MPs.

"You can conduct peaceful protests, but any acts of violence will not be tolerated. I will ensure this country remains peaceful.

Raila who had spoken earlier had accused Nkaissery of turning Kenya into a police State.

"Leave those weapons you are unleashing to the public at the barracks," Raila said amid applause from the crowd.

"You should stop initiating laws that aid election rigging."

The opposition after MPs passed the proposed legislation, announced it will embark on demonstrations on Januar 4, to challenge passage.

The demos were however, called off after the Senate postponed debate over the same.
