Masinde Muliro University Students’ Governing Council Secretary General David Kemboi Kipkosgei has accused the institution of suspending him because of his political affiliation.
He, alongside 9 other students, were suspended by the University for allegedly inciting students to demonstrate, between October 3-5 this year.
Learning was paralysed at the institution following the demos against alleged fee increment.
Kemboi intends to vie for a political seat in Uasin Gishu County in future.
“The decision by the Masinde Muliro University’s Senate to suspend me was malicious and unfounded. I believe it comes down to the fact that I am perceived to be a Jubilee supporter, and this is traditionally a CORD stronghold,” he told sde.co.ke
“The recent boycotting of classes by comrades was in good faith. The unreasonable fee increment has dealt many students a blow, especially those from very humble backgrounds. Yet when we sought justice through a peaceful demonstration, the admin summoned the police.”
Dr Bob Mbori, the Director of Public Communication and Publishing at the university, however denied the claims by the controversial student leader.
He said the matter will be investigated by the relevant body, devoid of bias.
