The governor of Machakos County Dr Alfred Mutua held a meeting with more than 500 matatu owners, touts, drivers boda boda operators from Machakos, Makueni and Kitui Counties.
Speaking on Tuesday during the meeting, Mutua stated the transport sector was crucial to the County's development and growth.
Dr Mutua further said that following a meeting with the people the leaders had presented their pleas.
"I listened to my people's plea that were brought forward by their leaders and I will address. The Machakos governor pointed out the improvements the County Government had done to improve the transportation as well as a conducive environment for the transport sector.
"The county government has tarmacked the Makutano, Mwala Kithimani road, put up CCTV cameras in strategic places and our security vehicles are on standby during all 24 hours," he added.
Meanwhile, Mutua has declared his support for all development based sectors in ensuring an attractive region in both local and international.
