Machakos governor Alfred Mutua has assured Athi River's Export Processing Zone (EPZ) staff of his support in getting the staff's grievances addressed by the company.
Speaking on Tuesday during his visit to the company, Mutua promised to convene a consultative meeting with the top management of the company to ensure that the staff's afflictions which range from salaries, poor working conditions and their welfare are resolved.
"I want to assure you of my support in regards to your welfare. I am going to intervene in these issues by convening a meeting with the companies' executives and get them addressed," Mutua said.
"As a leader, I am keen to uplift the living standards of my people because they deserve it and it is their right to be well represented," he added.
The governor further thanked the company's management for providing job opportunities to the locals. "I am also happy that the numerous companies working under the EPZ wing have provided our people with opportunities to earn a decent livelihood," he said.
