Nyali MP and Mombasa governorship hopeful Hezron Awiti has exuded confidence that he will win the seat during the forthcoming elections.

“This time also they have to prepare for a shock. I am going to beat them too like in 2013 when some other people tried to frustrate me when I was vying for the Nyali seat,” he stated.

Speaking in Mombasa on Thursday, the legislator noted that he had no regrets ditching Wiper Party, adding that he has since shifted his focus to strengthen his new political vehicle Vibrant Democratic Party and his gubernatorial bid.

“I’m only planning how to develop the party in which I’m a leader," he said.

“When you leave a place or you leave your wife, you don’t need to discuss them. I left the party and explained the reason why. I am not going back," he added.

Awiti decamped from Wiper Party last week, accusing the party's top leadership of frustrating his bid.

“While in Wiper, I announced my intention to vie for governor only for another person to follow my trail just to frustrate the move," he observed on Wednesday shortly after joining Vibrant Democratic Party.

He is set to battle it out with the incumbent governor Ali Hassan Joho (ODM), Hassan Omar (Wiper) and Suleiman Shahbal (Jubilee).
