In line with President Uhuru Kenyatta's 'Big Four Pillars', Health being one of them, Uasin Gishu is in a continued effort to provide health services to its residents through the opening of more health facilities and equipping existing ones.
On Saturday, Governor Jackson Mandago presided over the launching of Radiology and X-ray Units at the Plateau Mission Hospital in Ainabkoi Sub County.
Speaking during the launch, Mandago noted the significant benefits the units are going to bring, not only to the residents around but the entire County since the facility will offer Maternal and X-ray services.
He further pointed out that the units will bring a great relief to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), which has seen a lot of people rushing there for Radiology and X-ray services.
"This facility has been a great impact and this is opportune it becomes more beneficial," Mandago said.
"So soon activities will kick off at the AEZ Industrial Park which is just a walking distance from this facility which will be of great service for people who will be working there," he added.
Mandago also said his Government will see to it that the elderly people across the County will be given full medical coverage under the national insurance Fund (NHIF).
"By mid this year, we want to see that each and every person in all households in the County is registered under NHIF. This will save us a great deal in getting medical services in all the facilities," reiterated the Governor.
Speaking on behalf of MTRH CEO, the Director Nursing services Lydia Bundotich said the hospital is going to offer full support to the mission hospital, noting that MTRH has partnered with the Mission Hospital in anesthetic and surgical operations.
"As you have plans to start a medical college, as MTRH, we are ready to offer you services including coming up with a curriculum developed for the medical trainees," said Bundotich.
The Hospital's Administrator Jairus Serser appreciated the County's unending efforts and support towards the facility, pointing out a consignment of pharmaceutical drugs worth Sh382,000 as one them.
The County also seconded two doctors to the facility who are in charge of offering medical and nursing services at the facility.
Machines worth about Sh3.5 million were donated by Dr. Kenneth and Miriam Gritter from the Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA.
