Kisumu Deputy governor Ruth Odinga has shelved her gubernatorial ambitions ahead of ODM primaries that are set to begin April 13.
Odinga who had earlier declared interest in the county's governor’s race now says she would like to deputise whichever candidate that will clinch the ODM party ticket during the party nominations.
“I am not vying for governor and that can be confirmed from ODM party because I did not pay the nomination fess,” said Odinga.
Addressing journalists in Kisumu, the deputy governor said she would continue discharging her duties as the deputy governor.
The sister to the opposition leader Raila Odinga was to face off with the incumbent Jack Ranguma and senator Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o in the ODM nominations.
Ranguma’s competitors are now Nyong’o, Gordon Wayumba and businessman Hezron Mc’Obewa following her exit.
