As political alignments begin to take shape, Funyula MP Paul Otuoma has asked governors to be ready to fight for the party tickets in their quest to defend their seats in next year’s election.
According to Dr. Otuoma, the incumbent governors should not expect endorsements for the seats from the party leaders.
“Endorsements are some of the issues putting ODM party members at logger heads in Western region as some leaders feel they are more senior than others,” Otuoma was quoted by the Star.
Otuoma who is eyeing the Busia County gubernatorial seat said that expecting the party leader Raila Odinga to endorse anyone is a setback to democracy.
According to the former ODM deputy chairman, aspirants should stop bothering Raila with calls for direct nomination but instead, they should leave him focus on his presidential bid.
Dr. Otuoma warned that in an event that Governor Sospeter Ojaamong is given direct ticket, he will opt for another party that he will use to challenge him.
Otuoma’s concern comes amid claims that the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is favouring Ojaamong’s re-election and that he is most likely going to give him a direct ticket to defend his seat.
