Speaking in Nakuru on Friday when he officially opened the Insurance Regulatory Authority symposium, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui said motorists operating along the road need to adhere to safety measures.
Kinyajui, who served as NTSA chairman before becoming governor, said he will ensure that the roads in Nakuru are safe.
“We are going to work closely with our partners and am sure you know that the first partner when it comes to reducing accidents is the insurance company but here we seek your support to ensure the Highway is safe from Kinungi to Mau summit and those operating on the same must adhere to the regulations,” he said.
The county chief also called on the Insurance companies in Nakuru to ensure they also engage farmers in matters of insurance.
“Nakuru is agriculture zone and therefore we are calling on the insurance companies to ensure they also reach out to famers in the grassroots areas on the same,” he said.
Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) Godfrey Kiptum said they will ensure farmers gain from insurance.
“On livestock we have a budget of Kshs.700 million that was set aside while on crops we have insurance and we are calling on farmers in Nakuru and nation at large to make good use of the opportunities so as not to incur any loses,” he said.
IRA kicked off a three-day symposium at Nyayo Gardens in Nakuru on Thursday and is expected to come to close on Saturday.
