The political hostilities between Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo and Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga is headed to boiling point after the lawmaker vowed that Rasanga will not get the ODM ticket under his watch.
The two political adversaries from the hit land of the Nyanza politics have had a frosty relationship in the recent past with Midiwo often criticizing Rasanga's leadership.
Their torrid relationship culminated in the attacking of Midiwo by rowdy youth last weekend with the legislator believing that the Governor had a hand in the attack.
According to Midiwo, Rasanga's administration is a talk tank rather than result-oriented and that he cannot be entrusted with county resources.
A fortnight ago, the three-term lawmaker promised to name his preferred candidate before December to take on the incumbent who banks on his close relationship with the Odinga family.
Coincidentally, both Midiwo and Rasanga are related to the Odingas in one way or the other and it remains a matter of time on how the 2017 politics will play out in the county.
With the deep drama signaling conflict continuing to resurface in the region, ODM leader Raila Odinga who also comes from the region has decided to remain silent.
Will he speak about it eventually? Time will tell.
