“I will never step aside come rain or sunshine. My name will evidently be on the ballot. I have read in the news that some people want me to quit politics so that someone else can have an added advantage,” he said.

Aden dismissed the reports that he is set to quit Balambala politics as lies, saying he will never give up his political ambitions after a section of the dominant Abduwak clan said he should just step aside as part of the clan’s negotiated democracy.

On Sunday, the Rer Yahya sub-clan convened a meeting to deliberate on the community’s political direction.

A section of the elders said Aden should popularly step aside while Garissa MP Aden Duale should defend his legislative seat.

Aden and Duale hail from the Rer Yahya sub-clan and one of them is now supposed to surrender his legislative post as part of the clan's recommendations.
