Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth has insisted that he will not step down for Mike Sonko in the race to clinch the Jubilee Party ticket to contest for Nairobi governor.
Kenneth similarly denied claims that there are talks between him and the senator to have one of them step down for the other.
"I am not aware of talks happening that would lead to consensus," he said.
"Talks that I have been offered a Cabinet Secretary position to step down for Sonko are untrue," he said as reported by Nation.
This comes amid reports that the two sealed a deal to give a cabinet slot to Kenneth and have Sonko fly the Jubilee Party's flag.
He said he was going to appear on the ballot and added he was expecting a free and fair nomination process on Wednesday.
"I have not had discussions with any aspirant on the issue of consensus," Kenneth said, exuding confidence of winning the polls.
"However, I'm open to any method that will ensure Nairobi gets the best candidate for the August 8 general election."
"We have had discussions with President Uhuru Kenyatta and agreed that we need a win-win situation in Nairobi," he said.
