Nairobi governor, Evans Kidero has indicated that he will not appear any before the Senate committee unless Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko is prosecuted.
Through a letter addressed to Senate Speaker, Ekwee Ethuro, Kidero indicated that if no legal action is taken against the senator, he will have to move to the Supreme Court to seek an advisory opinion on the matter and also to challenge the parliamentary immunity granted to members.
“What should public officers who are summoned before the Senate Committee do when faced with a clearly conflicted senator who has either ulterior motives but which he proceeds to prosecute under the guise of oversight?” read part of the letter as published by Capital news on their website.
Kidero further stated that the case being alluded to by Sonko is already at the High Court and that the Senator was an interested party in the case.
“At this instance, Sonko in his shouts alluded to a specific case involving somebody by the name Hawa. It is much instructive that the claim relating to this name currently lies in the High Court under the petition number 775 of 2015,” he added.
