Meru Governor Peter Munya has told Deputy President William Ruto to forget his support in 2022 for the quest of the presidency.
Munya said he is in the presidential race and will contest for the top seat during the year.
The county chief was speaking in Muranga when he officiated at the opening of PNU offices in the county.
"My position has always been clear," he said as quoted by the Star.
"I will not join anyone supporting Ruto. There is no way I can run against him and support him at the same time."
Munya insists he will contest for the presidency after 2017 and that calls made to him to back Mr Ruto in 2022 will vanish in thin air.
He is among politicians who have declared interest in vying for the seat in 2022 including Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
