Muungano Party leader Kivutha Kibwana has said that he will not bow to pressure to fold up the party and Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper.

Kivutha says that he is under pressure to dissolve his party and support Wiper in the August 8 general elections.

Speaking to journalists in Emali town on Tuesday, Kivutha who is also the Makueni county governor asked Wiper to respect the independence of his party.

“I will not bow to pressure being mounted on me by Wiper and others to dissolve Muungano,” he said.

The Makueni governor added “I respect Kalonzo and wiper and they should also do the same.”

Kivutha said that though he supports Kalonzo’s presidential bid he will not be forced to dissolve his party.

The governor said that he will be seeking r-election on Muungano party and not as Wiper as being speculated.

A section of Wiper politicians led by Machakos senator Johnson Muthama are pushing for dissolution of smaller parties in Ukambani.

Muthama says that smaller parties threaten the unity of Kamba people.
