Acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i has warned the Opposition against meddling into affairs of the country’s security system.
Speaking at Kisii Cathedral Church on Sunday, Matiang'i said his ministry has mapped the country’s major violence hotspots and planned for them ahead of the general polls.
He dismissed the NASA adopt-a-polling-station strategy on grounds that no 'unauthorised person' will be allowed to stay around any polling station.
“The security sector is ready for the elections. Those planning to cause mayhem will face the full force of the law. Leaders must respect the Constitution and independent institutions,” said Mataing’i.
He said his office met with the Wafula Chebukati IEBC team and agreed on the way of conducting the election.
“We can’t live outside the law. We have experienced trouble before and lost lives because of elections. I have no right to disrespect the Constitution that I swore to protect. Let Kenyans remain assured there will be no problem in the country,” he said.
“Our work is to protect Kenyans and support IEBC. I will not entertain threats when it comes to safeguarding Kenyans’ interests,” he maintained.
