Speaking at Mt Kenya University Eldoret Campus over the weekend, Sossion termed the summons as intimidation.

The KNUT Secretary General said he would not appear before the commission or anyone else, saying that he had done nothing wrong.

“They want to us to keep quiet as our teachers in North Eastern go through hell,” he said.

Sossion stated that NCIC had accused him of inciting teachers from Northern Kenya against returning to their work stations. He said the government must address the issue of security before any teacher can resume work in Garissa, Mandera and Wajir.

Sossion further said that as a union they would continue to champion and fight for the rights of their members.

“The government must get serious and stop issuing summons to us while our teachers continue to suffer,” he said.

Sossion at the same time wants the government to ensure security is intensified in all learning institutions. He noted that teachers and students across the country lived in fear following the Garissa University massacre.
