Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett has vowed to stay put despite pressure from a section of Members of Parliament demanding for his resignation over the high cost of maize flour in the country.
In a telephone interview with The Star Newspaper on Sunday, Bett maintained that he will not step down, asserting his docket's commitment to ensuring that prices of key commodities stabilize.
“The calls will not cut my desire to lower down the prices of Unga. I still have a lot to do and my work will not cut out,” he said.
Led by National Assembly's Agriculture committee Vice Chair Kareke Mbiuki, the legislators on Friday accused Bett of mismanaging the Agriculture docket, giving him a four-day ultimatum to resign.
“We have also been told the government has allowed white maize to be brought. We don’t know which maize the CS was receiving. Was he receiving white, yellow, blue, indigo, orange or which one. This man must go,” Mbiuki said.
