Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) Leader Raila Odinga has vowed to pressure the Jubilee government until it explains to Kenyans how Eurobond proceeds were used.
Raila said the government was hiding information on the Eurobond money.
Speaking during a rally at Kamkunji grounds in Nairobi on Saturday, the ODM leader said that Kenyans have a right to be told how the government spent Eurobond money on various projects.
“I will continue to pressure the Jubilee government it makes public how the Eurobond money was used,” he said.
Raila said the government was not committed to fight corruption, and that it was tolerating massive theft of public funds.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta should stop the talk and act on thieves who steal public funds in government,” he said.
The Cord leader maintained that a huge chunk of the Eurobond proceeds could not be accounted for.
“The government is not cooperative and if indeed they can account for Eurobond money, then they have to provide the documents we are requesting for verification,” he said.
On Thursday, Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor Patrick Njoroge turned down a written request by Raila to meet and discuss on how the government utilised the Eurobond proceeds.
