Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko now says that he will beat his Interior counterpart Fred Matiang'i's performance.

Speaking during his first official tour at the Mt. Kenya Forest Wednesday, Tobiko who was responding to a section of lawmakers who are calling for the movement of the forestry department to the interior docket maintained that he is ready to deliver in his new post.

He rubbished the calls saying that he is ready to make remarkable changes in the department

"Matiang'i is not a magician. I am sure that with all the resources my office needs to protect our forests, I will beat his performance," said the former Director of Criminal Investigation.

Matiang'i has been basking in fame after he made remarkable changes in the education ministry during last year's national examinations, recording the lowest cases of exam malpractices. 

Coming at a time when the nation is staring at a possible drought, as a result of reduced rainfall, resulting from reduced forest cover, Tobiko put illegal loggers on notice, threatening strict measures against them.

He warned loggers against over-felling of trees failure to which, he said, their licenses will be revoked.

"Loggers caught going against tree felling regulations will have their licences revoked. We are very serious on this matter and will not be stopped by anything," he said.
