Speaking on Monday when he offered a cheque to help in the construction of Chibwobi tea buying center, Mosumari said that the area was fertile and has been good for coffee plantation and there is no need to ignore it.

He added that in the early years coffee and tea used to be the backbone of the Gusii region and due to bad management and poor payment farmers opted to quit the venture and it’s high time it gets revived.

“The coffee sector was killed by cartels in the government but am sure once I get the seat I will fight for the residents and the farmers from the region so that they can get more from their produce,” he added.

The Parliamentary aspirant also added that many of the residents used to comfortably sustain their families from the coffee sector before it collapsed and there is a possibility of awakening it.
